Frederick Warne took a long time to publish books with dates of publishing. This is the Third Edition, revised, which preceded the Albion Edition of 1889; the preface is dated 1844. The colour of the covers is uneven due to some water damage, which has stained the fancy endpapers front and rear. The pages are clean, only very slightly yellow; largely unmarked, extremely rare, foxing. Gilt title and embellishments on spine. Footnotes throughout. Covered in adhesive plastic.
