& THE TREATMENT OF SNAKEBITE

The last work to deal exclusively with the Southern African poisonous snakes and the treatment of snakebite was published in 1919. This present account shows how knowledge about the hazard and treatment of snakebite has advanced in the last 45 years. It was sponsored by the College of General Practitioners and checked at all stages by the author’s collegues and various specialists. It is also the first book in which all the South African poisonous snakes are illustrated in colour. Some 300 case histories, of which some have been reported in a minute by minute account in the text, were used by the author to frame his recommendations for treatment.
