There is no date anywhere neither in the main body of the Bible nor in the various preliminaries and Annexures. My guess is around 1880. The earliest date written in was 1913 but that occurred far into the Family Register. Un-numbered chromolithographs plates thr’out – no list; most are foxed due to the interleaved “plate protectors”; otherwise very little foxing. Occasional small tears in the margins. All pages browning; all edges gilt but the gilt is worn. Leather on the front cover is cracking only inside the title panel and much of the gilt lineations is tarnished and a little is worn off. Book has bevelled edges. New eps front and rear. Coloured title p plus b&w title p. 4pp of Family Register containing only names of 5 arbitrary children; and has therefore been covered over; plus an EXTRA 4 p in facsimile. Double columns thru’out with notes in the margins. xiii pp of the Life of John Brown, of which 1 sheet has been repaired on the margins; lxxxii pp Preliminaries of which 2 sheets have been repaired and of which p iii to p x inclusive- 4 sheets- (Rules for Understanding the Scriptures) are MISSING in their entirety. O T from p1 to p 802. NT has title p in b&w and pagination thru to p 1123. Names, Titles and Measures go to p 1149.. Concordance paginated separately from 1 to p 104.
