Dj has been stuck by water to the book over half the area starting along the top edge; dj stained inside rear flap; lightly stained over half the rear cover and VERY slightly stained on front; bumped along lower rear edge. Apart from being stuck to the dj. there is no other damage to the book. 216pp incl index with 50 biographies of high achievers all over 65 y o. ‘The Wisdom Film’ DVD intact and unopened at back of book. This is a confusing book to catalogue/ Many booksellers have not understood that it is a very heavy book and for this reason was published in various countries, by various publishers, probably more or less simultaneously. It appears that each country’s edition (impression ?) would have had a different dust jacket. For instance this S African edition has 7 thumbnail portraits on the front dj, of whom 5 are S African . There are another 36 portraits on the rear. The USA edition has Clint Eastwood on the front. The U K edition has Judi Dench on the front but both were published by Abrams. It appears that all editions had the same 50 biographies. In all cases, overseas postage would tend to be prohibitive. The book is also illustrative of how a ISBN could be VERY misleading. This book ISBN 9780733623509. The better copy (q v #11639) has ISBN 9781919790756. The bottom line is that the book is nowhere near as rare (total 19 copies on offer as at Mar 2021) as some book dealers are valuing it. It remains valuable as a very worthwhile source of wisdom.
