AN ALBUM OF PAINTINGS DRAWINGS OF THE WESTERN CAPE

Miss Picton-Seymour’s paintings and scraper board drawings have attracted an ever increasing public in South Africa in recent years. Her technique and her personal viewpoint are highly individual. and this book presents thirty-six of her bes pictures. Together they give an admirable cross-section of the architecture of the Western Cape, ranging from Cape Dutch to Cape Edwardian. Mr. Webster’s accompanying text will be found to be astringent, sometimes amusing, always readable.

Whether you are South African or a visitor to the Union, you will find plenty to ponder over and to cherish in this extremely individual book.

This is an art book for the appreciative: it will come as a pleasant surprise, particularly to those who feel that all there is to be said about the face of the Western Province has been said already.
