In the grand spirit of man’s ultimate testing, a modern-day adventurer recounts an historic three-year journey around the world, an unprecedented voyage that traversed both Poles, five continents and 52,000 miles.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes set sail with the crew of the Transglobe Expedition from Greenwich England, in September, 1979. He returned to a royal welcome exactly three years later. The years between included a journey of unsurpassed achievement; crossing the South Pole, using skis, snowshoes and open snowmobiles, and surviving glaciers and treacherous crevices, Fiennes and his companion Charles Burton then navigated the Northwest Passage by rubber boat, were stranded on an ice flow and ultimately made their way to the North Pole and down to Spitzbergen, Norway for the final voyage home.

Here is a story of unique personal bravery and endurance against all odds, of the unquenchable desire to achieve the impossible, living proof yhat the spirit of heroic exploration is still alive.
