Containing descriptions and figures of the ferns and fern allies of South Africa with localities and cultural notes.

Plates and figures all consist of line drawings all placed at the back.

Foxing occurs throughout the book. Possibly the leather covering is original. Also the tail has been repaired . As the spine and leather cover have been glued together there is no Oxford Channel. Further the leather is very old and has the sticker of ” William Jackson, Bookbinder, Aberdeen”. Further the gold title on the spine has dulled somewhat. Stamped ” E L Museum Library”.  2 of the corners slightly bumped. Leather work re-colored and dubbin-ed.

Consisting of:  iv plus 275 pages including  “Systematic Index” and 159 plates all line drawings.

Ferns of South Africa is an original and historical classic.
