Authored by W. Warde Fowler, M.A., Sub-Rector of Lincoln College Oxford, and published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons of New York and London in 1919. Hard cover bound this Second Edition copy is in Very Good condition, covered in adhesive plastic, and bound in Maroon Cloth with Gilt lettering, reworked with Gold pen on the spine. The size of the book is 198x138x43, with xxi pp preliminary and 389 pages including ads and an index.

Dated from copyright only. The spine is rather creased and has been strengthened at head & tail inside the channel. Pages slightly yellowed but uniformly; faded titles on spine have been re-worked; top edge has been re-coloured. Prev Owner’s name and date on ffep – can be removed on request, dating to 1928. B&w frontis with tissue guard plus 40 b&w plates (unchecked); folding map in colour.
