A WORLDWIDE COLLABORATION LINKING PEOPLE WITH PLANTS THROUGH CONTEMPORARY BOTANICAL ART

17 May to 9 June 2018, Everard Read Gallery, Rosebank, Johannesburg

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The Botanical Artists Association of Southern Africa (BAASA) is very excited to be involved in this worldwide collaboration. My friend, Elsa Pooley and I happened to be at the American Society of Botanical Artist’s Conference in Pittsburgth when the first meeting was held to discuss the idea. We both wanted to be part of it. However it takes numerous people behind the scenes to make an event like this happen. Carol Woodin and the central steering committee are congratulated for making this exhibition  a reality.

It was important for this exhibition to take place in Gauteng and that meant only one gallery. It is with heartfelt appreciation that I acknowledge Mark Reed’s generosity and total support of this project. He is passionate about all aspects of nature and over the years has expressed a great appreciation for botanical art.

Around the world botanical art has drawn together people with diverse backgrounds through their shared passion. This has been one of the main strengths of BAASA, long may it continue
