Nature Provides us with few things more fascinating than the story of salmon running up the rivers of their birth in spring and summer to spawn, after spending the winter months in the unknown depths  of the ocean. Eric Taverner and W. Barrington Browne have combined in word and picture to describe this wonderful journey as it concerns ten salmon in British waters, from the time they leave the sea until the only survivor begins to return there again from her river; and we hear too what happens to the eggs and young fish and of their endless struggle for survival.
