TIME CAPSULE 1933

R115.00

A HISTORY OF THE YEAR CONDENSED FROM THE PAGES OF TIME.

Two strong leaders dominated 1933. Preparing to lead a nation caught in a great social and economic crisis, Franklin Roosevelt imposed upon the U.S. a new style and structure of government that was destined to alter the lives and attitudes of millions of citizens, and to save many of them from destitution. At exactly the same time, facing a similar crisis, Adolf Hitler began to impose upon Germany a style of government that was destined in the end to bring death to millions.

In 1933 thirsty U.S. citizens temporarily forgot the depression to lap up legalized 3..2 per cent beer. A foul mouthed redneck named Jester Lester started down the long run Tobacco Road. A federal judge in Manhattan permitted James Joyce’s Ulysses to enter the U.S. After 10 rounds underdog Max Baer defeated Germany’s Max Schmeling. King Kong climbed up the Empire State with screaming Fay Wray in his fist.
