THE NORTHERN RHODESIA JOURNAL NUMBER III VOLUME II 1954

R581.00

A Society known as the Northern Rhodesia Society has been formed.

Its objects are: to promote the study of ethnology, history, geography, natural history and kindred sciences in their relation to Northern Rhodesia; to co-operate with the Rhodes-Livingstone Museum and Rhodes-Livingstone Institute to this end; and to encourage and facilitate the publication of records and studies in these subjects.

In pursuance of these aims, a  major activity of the Society is to publish The Northern Rhodesia Journal. The Journal is issued twice a year…

The Society employs the hospitality of the Museum as its headquarters, and helps to foster close co-operation between its members and the Museum Trustees. Members of the Society are privileged to use the Museum Library, and in return the Library is enriched by the journals and reports donated by the Society, which it obtains in exchange for the The Northern Rhodesia Journal.

It is hoped that it will be possible to hold regular meetings in Livingstone, Lusaka and, if necessary, elsewhere for discussions or reading of papers on subject within the Society’s field of interest. It is hoped also to build up a panel of members, who will place their special knowledge or experience at the disposal of inquirers, and so facilitate exchange of interest and information among members. To this end members are invited, on joining to inform the Editor of the Journal of any subject in which they are interested.
