THE COMPLETE ADVENTURES OF PETER RABBIT

R400.00

For the first time the four Beatrix Potter stories featuring Peter Rabbit are collected together in one volume so that his escapades can be followed as a continuous saga. The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies and Tale of Mr. Tod appear here in their full text. Original pictures from the Tales are used and a few of the black and white illustrations from the privately printed Tale of Peter Rabbit are included for decoration.

For those readers who enjoy family histories, it is fun to trace the life stories of Peter and his sisters in this collection. After his adventures in Mr. McGregor’s garden, Peter grows up to be a respectable nursery gardener who sometimes helps out his improvident but cheerful relations, sister Flopsy and her husband Cousin Benjamin, with a cabbage or two .They are unlucky with their offspring. The first family, The Flopsy Bunnies, are the victims of the soporific effect of lettuces and fall into the hands of the dreaded Mr. McGregor, and in the Tale of Mr. Tod a second family is kidnapped by Tommy Brock, the badger, due to the carelessness of Grandfather, old Mr. Benjamin Bouncer , alias Bunny, In this story we learn that Cotton-tail has married the little black rabbit who was wooing her with presents of carrots in Appley Dapply’s Nursery Rhymes. But nobody knows what happened to Mopsy for she is never mentioned again. Another rabbit pie?
