Description

Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia: Private Printing,, 1939. On spine the title is legible with some difficulty; on front the gold title is clear and bright except for 2 words which have been re-worked; the first four sheets have suffered damp damage over 40 mm in the top corners in the margins, not affecting the text. All pages yellowed and very occasional slight foxing. The ink inscription on the front paste-down is to John Hopley who was a prominent Rhodesian farmer, a Judge in the Cape, a 3 x capped Rugby player for England and maybe Britain’s finest amateur boxer, (cf Angle “My Sporting Memories” & other books in this catalogue). (vi) plus 198pp incl Erratum slip; frontis and 12 b&w photog plates – complete. A very informative, very intersting account of early sportsmen (i.e. hunters), many of whom are known very slightly if at all. Altogether a rare treasure.. Signed Inscrip by Author to John Hopley. First Edition. Hard Cover Red Cloth.. Very Good in Plastic./None. 223x25p75mm.
